View Article  Planning Permission Granted
We have had our planning permission granted. We wanted permission to convert the back of the building to 3 residential flats so that we could sell them off, to reduce our borrowing and renovate the front of the hotel. The council decided this was a bad idea and have only given us planning permission for 2 flats (because the lower ground floor will be a meter under water in the next 100 years or so due to global warming and having someone live there would increase the number of occupants that would be susceptible to flooding) So they are holiday flats and will have to bring a boat just in case the sea breaches the wall and they need to get out quickly.

Anyway we should have 2  two bedroom holiday flats for rent next year all being well.

Stuart is in the papers again, we won our case against the Torbay Hospitality Association, who overcharged us for advertising and forgot to reduce the VAT rate charged to members last year when it went from 17.5% to 15.0% I hope they are going to contact their members and repay the excess money they have taken.

View Article  Room 10, 12 & 14
Rooms 10, 12 and 14 have all been redecorated, after having new ceilings put up. New pictures will appear on the website soon.

The ceilings were replaced in room 12 and 14 due to the fact that we had 3 leaks in the roof which damaged them. Room 10 was looking a little worse for ware so we decided to have the ceiling replaced in this room too.

We are committed to improving the rooms and other facilities we offer so that you can enjoy your stay all the more.
View Article  Lounging about again
Hi all,

The Lounge has now been redecorated and in so doing I decided to remove the radiators and flush them through, good idea. Until I put them back and found the following morning that one of the rads had a pin hole leak in the top and had spent the night pouring hot water down the wall, blistering the gloss paint on the skirting board. DOH!!

We have now replaced all the radiators on the ground and lower ground floor so this should prevent any further occurrence.

We are now painting the hall ways to freshen them up and make them brighter.
